Beginning on Saturday, May 11th, the print will be displayed at the Eugene B. Smith Gallery, 25 N. Loudoun Street, Winchester, Virginia, during regular gallery hours.

Sealed bids may be submitted at the Gallery beginning on May 11th at 10:00 a.m. and running through Saturday, May 18th at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, May 18th , from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the print will be displayed at the Handley 100th “Celebrating the Celebration” Gala at the George Washington

Hotel and sealed bids will be accepted there during that time.

In addition to the above, sealed bids will be accepted here from noon on May 11, 2024 to 9:00 p.m. on May 18, 2024.

At 9:00 p.m. on May 18th , the bidding period will be closed and bids will be opened at the Gala by a committee of three persons to determine the winning bid. The submitter of the high bid will be notified by the committee; he or she does not need to be present at the Gala. The winning bid amount will be announced at the

Gala but the winning bidder will not be identified unless he or she gives consent.

Payment from the high bidder is expected within three days of notification.

Bidding

You may bid more than one time during the bid period. Your highest bid will be considered your final bid (not including escalated bids as described below).
In submitting your bid, you agree that if you are the high bid at the end of the bidding period, you will make payment to Winchester Education Foundation within three days of being contacted by Handley 100th. If payment is not received within that time, the next-highest bidder will have the right to purchase the print.
Minimum bid is $500. (The cost value is $455 for the print, matting and framing, but because this is Giclee Print No. 1 of a limited edition offering in which all others have been sold, the actual value is indeterminable).
To the purchaser, the amount paid over $455 is tax deductible as a contribution to Winchester Education Foundation, a Virginia nonprofit corporation acting as agent for the Handley 100th celebration.
